The short answer

The four suites organize into a single shared system: HR (the required foundation), Workforce managing time and attendance, Payroll calculating wages and remittances, and Talent covering recruiting, performance, and succession. Pricing runs $4 per employee per suite per month, with no setup fee. HR is mandatory. The other three are optional add-ons that activate without re-implementation because the underlying employee record never changes. That single-database design has been in place since Workzoom launched in 2001.

In every Workzoom demo, the product introduction covers the same ground in about ten seconds: "There are four main suites. HR, Workforce, Payroll, Talent." Simple. What takes longer to explain is why none of these are separate products in the conventional sense.

Most HR software reaches its current form through acquisition. A time-tracking tool purchased here, a recruiting engine bolted on from a vendor acquired three years ago, a payroll module licensed from a third party. Workzoom was built in 2001 as a single system. Family-owned, with the founder still running it. The four suites share one employee record. Not four databases attempting to stay synchronized.

What each suite covers.

HR is the foundation. Every other suite reads from it. It holds the employee record: personal information, employment history, compensation history, organizational structure, documents, and role-based access controls. HR is not optional. The other three are.

Workforce handles time and attendance, shift scheduling, time-off requests, and absence management. For companies running variable hours or multi-shift operations, Workforce feeds accurate time data into the payroll calculation. Without it, hours arrive by spreadsheet.

Payroll calculates wages, statutory deductions, and remittances. For Canadian employers, it generates T4 slips and the EFT bank file. The client or their bank submits and remits. For Caribbean employers, Workzoom calculates NIB contributions natively for the Bahamas today. The payroll engine is built to handle the statutory stacks of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados; contact us about payroll for those countries and your timelines.

Talent covers recruiting, performance reviews, succession planning, and learning management. It is the last suite most employers activate, and often the one where the value of a unified employee record becomes most visible.

What the math looks like.

Each suite costs $4 per employee per month. No setup fee.

A 100-person employer that starts with HR and Payroll pays $800 per month. Add Workforce six months later and that number moves to $1,200. All four suites for the same headcount runs $1,600 per month. The arithmetic holds whether the employer is a hotel in Nassau or a municipality like County of Renfrew.

Adding a suite does not require a re-implementation. The employee record already exists. Adding Talent means activating a view, not rebuilding a database.

Mistakes buyers make.

  • Activating all four suites on day one before they are needed. HR and Payroll is a complete, working system. Workforce and Talent are additions, not prerequisites. Start with what the team will use on launch day.
  • Expecting a later add-on to require a re-implementation. It does not. This is the difference between software built as one system and software assembled from acquisitions. No data migration happens when a customer activates a new suite.
  • Treating HR and Payroll as the same thing. HR manages the employee record and organizational structure. Payroll calculates compensation and generates remittances. A company can run HR without Payroll if they process payroll elsewhere.
  • Underestimating what Workforce covers. Workforce is not a time clock. It includes shift scheduling, coverage management, and absence tracking. If those problems exist, Workforce belongs in the planning conversation early, not as an afterthought.

How Workzoom runs it.

The four suites share one database. A new hire entered in HR is immediately visible in Payroll. An approved compensation change updates the shared employee record, and the next payroll run reads the current rate directly off that record. No file export or manual re-entry. No middleware. No nightly sync. One record.

Workzoom has operated on this architecture since 2001. Twenty-five years on the same design decision. Customers like Cable Bahamas, County of Renfrew, and Silvera for Seniors run multiple suites against the same employee records their teams enrolled at go-live.

That is not a feature. That is what software looks like when it is built as a system from the start, not assembled from pieces acquired at different times by different teams.

Questions about The four Workzoom suites

The four suites are HR, Workforce, Payroll, and Talent. HR is the required foundation and holds the employee record. The other three are optional add-ons, each priced at $4 per employee per suite per month. All four run against the same record, so adding a suite at any point requires no re-implementation or data migration.
Each suite is priced at $4 per employee per month, with no setup fee. A 100-person company running all four suites pays $1,600 per month. Running HR and Payroll only costs $800 per month for the same headcount.
Yes. All four suites read from the same employee record, so adding Workforce or Talent after go-live requires no data migration or re-implementation. The record created at launch is the same record the new suite activates against on day one.
The Workforce suite covers time and attendance tracking, shift scheduling, time-off requests, and absence management. For employers with variable hours or multi-shift operations, Workforce feeds accurate hour totals directly into Payroll, replacing manual spreadsheet entry.
HR manages the employee record: personal information, employment history, compensation, documents, and organizational structure. Payroll calculates wages, deductions, and remittances, and generates T4 slips and EFT bank files that the employer or their bank then submits. A company can run HR without Payroll if they process payroll in a separate system.
