Barbados HR Questions
Common questions about managing HR in Barbados.
Barbadian employers pay less. As part of our commitment to the Caribbean market, Barbados-based organizations receive special regional pricing that caps the full platform at $16 per employee per month. This is the same rate regardless of company size, with no tiered pricing that penalizes growth.
Each suite (HR, Workforce, Payroll, and Talent) costs $4 per employee per month. Subscribe to all four suites and pay the capped rate of $16 per employee per month. That is a built-in discount for Barbadian employers who want the complete solution.
Minimum monthly fees:
- 1 suite: $400/month
- 2 suites: $500/month
- 3 suites: $600/month
- 4 suites (full platform): $700/month
What is included at no extra cost: implementation, data migration, training, ongoing support, and all future software updates. No setup fees, no hidden charges, no long-term contracts. Pay annually and save an additional 5%. Calculate your exact pricing.
Workzoom is configured for NIS compliance at current National Insurance Department rates. For private-sector employees, combined employer and employee contributions across all NIS levies (National Insurance, unemployment, severance, training, and health service) total 23.75%. A Resilience & Regeneration Fund levy of 0.25% each (employer and employee) took effect April 2025. The platform tracks both employer and employee contribution requirements and generates remittance summaries ready for submission to the National Insurance Department. The same engine runs production payroll for Cable Bahamas (850 employees) and Island Luck (8 payrolls per week across 60+ locations). Barbados statutory configuration uses this proven infrastructure.

Yes. Workzoom supports employers with multiple locations across Barbados from a single employee database. Each location can have its own scheduling rules, reporting structure, and cost centre allocation.
Managers get role-based permissions scoped to their location. Security can be configured down to the field level. Reporting rolls up across all sites so you see the full picture of headcount, labor costs, and attendance.
This is particularly useful for retail, hospitality, and service organizations operating across the island. Mobile time clocking with GPS geofencing works well for staff who move between locations. Explore time clocking options.
Implementation is included at no extra cost. You stay in control of the pace and priorities while our team provides guidance, data migration, and configuration support.
The process follows these steps:
- Self-guided orientation: Explore the system before making configuration decisions
- Data migration: You provide employee data in a spreadsheet, we map and import it (typically completed within days)
- Configuration: Work with your Workzoom Liaison or Coach to fit the system to your policies
- Validation: Test in your sandbox environment to confirm everything works as expected
- Parallel payroll: For payroll conversions, run 1-2 parallel pay runs to verify accuracy
- Go-live: Roll out on your schedule with ongoing support
Most Barbadian organizations are fully running on Workzoom within 4 to 8 weeks. Teams under 250 employees often go faster. The timeline depends on your availability and how quickly you can gather data and validate configurations. Contact us to plan your rollout.
Yes. Workzoom tracks the requirements of the Barbados Employment Rights Act 2012. Statutory minimum notice periods: 1 week for service under 2 years, 2 weeks for 2–5 years, 4 weeks for 5–10 years, 6 weeks for 10–15 years, and 10 weeks for 15 or more years. Severance pay under the Severance Payments Act is calculated at 2.5 weeks of basic pay per year for the first 10 years, 3 weeks per year for years 11–20, and 3.5 weeks per year for years 21–33, based on average earnings over the last 104 weeks. The platform also tracks written employment particulars, unfair dismissal protections, and redundancy procedures.
Built-in support for:
- NIS contribution calculations and remittance summaries
- PAYE income tax at current Barbados Revenue Authority brackets (11.5% on income up to BDS 50,000 and 27.5% above, per the 2026 Barbados Budget)
- Severance pay calculations under the Severance Payments Act
- Vacation and sick leave tracking per statutory minimums
- Overtime rules and premium pay calculations
- Minimum wage tracking and alerts
The platform alerts managers when actions may conflict with statutory requirements. All logins, actions, and data changes are logged with timestamps, user IDs, and IP addresses for compliance review. Learn about HR compliance features.

Start with a demo. We will show you how Workzoom handles the specific workflows you care about, whether that is scheduling, time tracking, or all of it.
If it looks like a fit, we will map out an implementation plan, provide questionnaires to capture your policies, and begin data migration. You get a sandbox environment to explore, configure, and validate before going live.
No long-term commitment required. You can start with just HR and add payroll or workforce later. The $16 cap applies whenever you are ready for the full platform. Book your demo now.
